The contract, awarded for the design and construction of the Thames District Library, as a joint venture between Argon Construction Ltd and the architect, was the result of winning this competition. A special feature of this project was that the building had to be sensitive to its environment and in keeping with the architectural traditions of this historic area. As well, it needed to be practical and aesthetically pleasing, and to provide the most up-to-date library facilities. The company's attention to detail is evident in all aspects of the construction - right down to the miniature model of the historic library in the children's area. The building works well as a focal point of the Thames community and is regarded as a model example of a district library. |
