Scope of Works: Warehouse office development

Argon Construction Ltd's working relationship with the Sanitarium Health Food Company has spanned a variety of contracts over a ten year period.

As a client, Sanitarium had special requirements concerned with the strong religious basis of their companies philosophy. Certain conditions were imposed in the contracts with Argon Construction Ltd who were sensitive to this clients particular needs.

As part of the overall site control, the company's construction crew and all sub-contractors were briefed on codes of behavior and dress expected on site. Rules included no smoking, no swearing, no radios. Work had to stop during morning prayer time and working schedules needed to be carefully allocated as no work was allowed on Saturdays.

Argon's willingness to comply with these constraints while working to a high standard had led to their being involved in the total redevelopment of the Sanitarium site at Royal Oak, Auckland.

The size and scope of this work has been considerable. 100,000 square feet of buildings were constructed over 45 weeks, including an office block and factory. An existing building on the site was completely refurbished also. The roof of this large structure was lifted and supported while work was in progress. Argon also did the site works covering an area if 138,000 square feet. Projects included landscaping the grounds, building a tennis court, surfacing some areas with hot mix and laying 86,000 square feet of concrete roading.

Other jobs over the years have included upgrading offices, building the bases for storage tanks and raising the roofs of working areas.

Argon Construction Ltd were able to accomplish these tasks while Sanitarium staff continued working, so eliminating any loss of production time for the client.
